Integrated Models of Stress Coping in Youth during Martial Law
Abstract
Abstract. The relevance of this topic is due to the fact that fighting has hostilities have been ongoing in the country for a prolonged period, accompanied by significant human losses among both military personnel and civilians, the destruction of critical and civilian infrastructure, and the forced displacement of the population. In this context, the population is compelled to live under conditions of prolonged psycho-emotional stress and uncertainty. Student youth are particularly vulnerable to the impact of these stress factors, as they are in a formative stage and do not yet possess sufficiently developed mechanisms of psychological adaptation. Prolonged exposure to such conditions may lead to the development of chronic stress, resulting in decreased academic and work performance, as well as difficulties in social adaptation and interaction. The aim of the article is to empirically investigate the resource-oriented coping models inherent in student youth, which facilitate their effective adaptation to atypical stressful situations caused by wartime conditions and enable them to maintain their capacity for learning, professional development, and daily functioning. The study analyzes the main stress conditions that individuals may experience during prolonged crisis situations. It also examines ukrainian and international experience in studying stress coping models among populations affected by military conflicts and forced displacement. The scientific novelty of the study lies in the presentation of the results of an empirical analysis of resource-oriented models among student youth in percentage terms, which made it possible to identify dominant resource channels that contribute to maintaining the physical and mental well-being of young people under prolonged stress.
